Sponsor Certificates
Sponsor certificates are sometimes requested so that you can serve as a godparent or sponsor at another parish. The minister presiding over the sacrament is responsible for making sure that the persons acting as godparents or sponsors are suitable for the function they are taking on, or simple terms, are good models of the practice of the Catholic faith. Because you would not be known to them, they request that the pastor who does know you provide a sponsor certificate.

If you regularly attend Sunday mass at St. Mel, contact the Parish Office. You will meet briefly with the priest to sign the certificate and for him to give any instruction. This preferably takes place immediately after mass in the sacristy, at a time that has been arranged through the parish secretary. If you have not been attending mass here, please contact the parish where you attend mass.

You will need to provide:
-
Your full name.
-
The full name of the person you are being a godparent or sponsor for.
-
The place and date of when the sacrament is going to be celebrated.
